Spirited book signing during DC Black Pride

(Lisa C. Moore and G. Winston James at work in Washington, DC.)

RedBone Press is celebrating the release of Spirited: Affirming the Soul and Black Gay/Lesbian Identity with a reading/signing by editors G. Winston James and Lisa C. Moore, and several Washington, DC area contributors. The event will be at 3 p.m. Saturday, May 27, 2006 at Lambda Rising Bookstore, 1625 Connecticut Ave. NW, Washington, DC 20009. 202-462-6969.

DC area contributors to Spirited include Rev. Beverly Saunders Biddle, Dr. Amina M. Binta, Tony Farmer, Clarence J. Fluker, Tracee Ford, Dorothy Harris, Jorhan Mbonisi, Rev. Dyan McCray, Monique Meadows, Kathleen Morris, Tonya Parker, H.L. Sudler and Rev. Jim Webb.

"Just as Rev. Irene Monroe writes in the introduction to Spirited, this collection of 40-plus essays attempts to give black homosexuals a spiritual voice, and succeeds. Packed full of powerful words... Spirited is a good resource for anyone seeking to reconcile homosexuality with God," says Bay Windows.

Hope to see you there!

We're so proud of Samiya Bashir!

We may not have won the 2005 Lambda Literary Award for Best Lesbian Poetry for Where the Apple Falls, but we're very, very proud of Lammy finalist and RedBone Press author Samiya Bashir. After all, how does one best 2005 Lammy winner June Jordan? Look how close Samiya came. That really takes some doin'. We are damn proud!
